Tailevu, one of the fourteen provinces that make up the country of Fiji, is located on the island of Viti Levu which is also the largest island in the country. It occupies 755 sq km of the south eastern part of the island. Its main urban area is the town of Nausori which has a population of 21,645 as of the 1996 census. According to the 2007 census, the combined population of the province is 55,692.

Tailevu covers five districts: Bau, Verata, Nakelo, Sawakasa and Wainibuka. The district of Bau is composed of the Bau Island which where the seat of the Kubuna Confederacy is located. The paramount chief of the confederact, the Vunivalu of Bau, is also regarded as the most senior of the chiefs in the country. The previous holders of this title have also been key movers in the history of Fiji. For instance, there is Seru Epenisa Cakobau which was known as the person behind the first nation state created from the Fiji Islands – the Kingdom of Viti.

From the province of Tailevu, travellers can easily head out to other well known tourist spots in the island. For instance, there is the capital city of Suva which is also the commercial center in the country. Travellers will find a variety of interesting landmarks such as colonial style buildings all over the city.

Also accessible from Tailevu is the town of Nadi, another tourist spot in Viti Levu. This town is known for such attractions as the largest Hindu Temple in the Pacific, the Newtown Beach, Wailoaloa Beach and the Nadi Garden of the Sleeping Giant. After that, tourists can take a bus to the town of Lautoka where they can find a beautiful Hare Krishna temple and botanical garden.
