Sunshine Coast is composed of 9 towns and is located in Southeast Queensland, north of Brisbane. To the east is the Pacific Ocean and to the west is the Blackall Range. Much of the geography and infrastructure of the region revolves around tourism, offering diverse activities from swimming to golfing.

First discovered by James Cook, the Sunshine Coast’s history is varied. Since the past, it was a refuge for people in the neighboring regions who wanted an escape and live here. This region of 290,000 people was technically divided until recently, when it was formally known as the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

The Sunshine Coast prides itself for offering exactly all types of leisure activities for every tourist. There are many beaches in the region, such as those in Noosa Heads, Alexandra Headland, Mooloolaba, Coolum, and Caloundra. These beaches vary depending on the tourist’s taste. There are beaches perfect for sunbathing, while there are some for surfing and kite surfing.  These are considered as the major attractions in the region.

Tropical and wildlife destinations are well scattered throughout the region, also. One is the Australia Zoo, where most of Australia’s flora and fauna species are. Another is the Kondalilla National Park, a rainforest with walking trails and camps. The Kenilworth State Forest, a eucalyptus forest, is another camping site where interaction with the wildlife is free and unrestricted. Other natural forests that can be visited are the Beerwah State Forest, Beerburrum Forest Reserve, and the Buderim Ginger Factory. Further, there are many tropical fruits only to be found in this region.
This region also has a lot of national parks and golf courses. There are five major national parks within the region: Mapleton Falls National Park, Glasshouse Mountains National Park, Noosa National Park, Great Sandy National Park, and Kondalilla National Park. What makes these parks distinct is that they are natural and usually has minimum man-made facilities. As for the golf courses, a few of them are located in the Pelican Waters, Twin Waters, Pacific Harbour, and Peregian Springs.
