Albury-Wodonga is a collective term for two cities, Albury and Wodonga. These cities are in many ways both separated and combined. They are separated by the Murray River: to the north is Albury of the state New South Wales; to the south is Wodonga of the state Victoria. They have separate local governments. However, these two cities are so close geographically that tourists would do best to visit both at once. Also, the cultural lines between the two very much overlap.
In the 1970s, Albury-Wodonga was projected to be a major city. For this, buildings and major structures as well as a surge of population occurred. Thirty years after, the twin cities have approximately a population of 100,000.
Tourists can go to Albury-Wodonga to find the relaxation and peace they are looking for. Aside from the favorable climate in the region, the cities also have museums, parks, and leisure facilities. One museum is the Albury Regional Museum. In here are artifacts of the aboriginal people Wiradjuri.   Another is the Jindera Pioneer Museum, a museum that tells the stories of workers in the district. There is also a museum where the tanks, artillery, and other weapons of war are showcased—the Army Museum Bandiana.
The place is also famous for its many wineries and vineyard. The Scion Vineyard and Winery is a small boutique with genuine Ruthergien wines. Another is the Vintara Winery and Bintara Brewery. Both wines and beers are sold here. The Amulet Vineyard, finally, is the place to go if you are looking for Italian beverages of Beechworth.
There are also many gardens and parks where tourists can take long and relaxing walks. The Botanic Gardens in Albury is one of these places. In the Beechworth Honey, an educational tour about the life of bees and a look at their natural habitats can be taken. For a more exotic natural experience, the Wonga Wetlands is a place with natural wildlife and ecosystems.
